New Girl

Did anyone catch New Girl on Channel 4 last week? I’m addicted; I’ve hardly moved from the couch since watching the first episode and have now managed to finish the first series! There’s one reason for this sudden obsession, Zooey Deschanel. I’ve had a serious girl crush since 500 days of summer; she’s not only witty, goofy and downright gorgeous but also has the cutest vintage style going! Did I mention she was also married to Ben Gibbard and is in the awesome band She & Him?

Interior Inspirations

I am never happy. I'm always growing out of love with my wall art,  looking to invest in a new rug and changing my colour scheme. I have moved 12 times, yes 12, in my short 26 years and have painstakingly collected a mass of beautiful vintage furniture to match every place. There was the ultra modern flat that needed a futuristic 60's feel, the grade II listed cottage that suited a whole new shabby chic interior and the old mill that needed full on psychedelic wallpaper to inject a little colour. But today I am yet again getting itchy feet and scouring the internet for a new place and fresh interior inspirations!  I want a complete blank canvas that I can go full throttle with the 60's accessories, let me know what you think?!

 

Big & Bold Marni

After collaborations with powerhouses such as Versace, Karl Lagerfield, Stella McCartney and Lanvin, H&M have yet again announced an amazing collaboration with Italian Label Marni! On 8th March 2012 Marni will be launching a range of womenswear, menswear and accessories in over 260 H&M shops! Queue the hoards of bargain hunters! After queuing for hours last week to grab myself a piece of the Versace action, I will be braving the cold again for Marni’s colourful pattern clashing. Their trademark tribal prints and bright graphics remind me of my love of bold 1960’s prints and their oversized midi designs encapsulate all my favourite vintage styles with a sharp modern twist.

It’s time for another style inspiration post. Chloe Sevigny, Hollywood Actress, Model, Fashion Designer and all round eclectic style queen. She nearly makes me want to revert back to my natural blonde locks....but maybe I need the LA tan first!

Versace I own you

Well it turns out I’m a sucker for a bargain. My legs are aching and toes and fingers are frozen but I have successfully grabbed myself 3 pieces of Versace for a measly £160! After braving the cold to queue outside H&M for a glimpse of the much anticipated Versace collection I am now the proud owner of these beauties! What did I think of the collection? Well I wasn’t impressed by the collections lurid pinks, oranges and greens. I'm all for standing out from the crowd but resembling a full on flamingo is a step too far! But, I completely feel in love the with luxurious silky darks and industrial studded twists. All a perfect fit with my 80’s gold Moschino belt!

So a post about Alexa Chung isn’t exactly groundbreaking, there are probably thousands of bloggers out there sending her exactly the same love. But she really is an inspiration for laid back vintage style. Alexa loves vintage and at vintagesayyeah we love Alexa. She wears denim cut offs and breton stripes just as well as she wears vintage shift dresses and evening-wear. A current style icon and great inspiration for all our shoppers!
